USSF B Licensed (no 25488), 29 years playing experience and counting. Eleven years experience coaching youth, amateur, and professional teams.

Chris is the Assistant Director of Coaching for FC Virginia, with responsibilities at some level for all FCV teams and player development. FC Virginia is one of the most elite youth clubs in the United States, and is a founding member club of the newly formed Elite Clubs National League, a collection of just 40 of the best clubs in the country.

Besides coaching the Courage and other FCV teams, Chris enjoys helping with his neighborhood high school girls team, serving as Assistant Varsity Coach of the Potomac Falls High School. Playing-wise, he currently plays soccer in the Northern Virginia Soccer League Premier Division with RBIS Rampage and Over-30 Division with Land Warriors. Prior to Land Warriors, he played with nationally competitive Over-30 team Bier FC, perennial VA State champions and winners of several US Region 1 Champions.  He is also an avid fan of the US National Teams, DC United, and the English Premier League.

After experimenting for a semester as a (pointy) football kicker at East Carolina University, Chris attended Penn State University and played soccer for semi-professional club Lancaster Spartans of PA from 1993 - 1995. He moved to Northern Virginia from Lancaster, PA in 1998 after working several years in the family sports field construction business.

Professionally, Coach Chris owns and operates HummerSport, LLC a soccer-focused sports media and marketing company. HummerSport publishes Potomac Soccer Wire, as well as the newly launched National Soccer Wire, both of which Chris serves as Editor in Chief. In addition to managing the operations and staff, Chris covers the U.S. Men's and Women's National teams, D.C. United, and the Washington Freedom regularly - attending matches, interviewing players and coaches, and filing stories. His writings on the game of soccer are widely read within the soccer community, including a regular "OMG! What a Goal" column that gains international attention. Chris also attends at least one coaching course every summer, with the 9-day USSF "A" license course on his schedule for June 2009.

Please feel free to contact Coach Chris for any reason... to discuss training philosophy, for advise on teaching soccer or the right path for getting into college, or even for advice on where to sit at RFK stadium for a DC United game!
