Courage 92 at Crossroads of America College Showcase

Apr 28, 2008
The Chantilly FCV Courage 92 U-15 just returned from their first major road trip to the Crossroads of America College Showcase in Indianapolis, competing in three games against tough Canadian teams, going 1-1-1 while being observed by several college programs.

The first game was against the Oshawa Kicks Extreme who are the provincial champions from Ontario. The Courage played well despite the windy conditions, and ended up with a 1-1 draw with a grat goal by Mampy Beck.

On Saturday the Courage played another team from Ontario - AJAX UNITED MAGIC 93.  They are the runner-up provincial champions from Ontario.  The Courage won 1-0 on a terrific goal by Steph Burns.

Sunday the Courage faced the Canadian national finalists - QUEBEC ROYAL SELECT.  This team was definitely the best the Courage had ever played, boasting two girls that are in residency for the Canadian National team.  The Courage played very well, but lost 2-0 on early goals before settling in an playing tough for the remainder of the match.

The following college coaches watched the Courage play:
West virginia U (came to 2 games)
U. of Toledo
Clemson
U. of Milwaukee
U. of Utah (came to 2 games)
U. of Oklahoma
Canisius College (Buffalo)
SMU
U. Alabama
Purdue
U. of Tennesee
Belmont U.
U. Cincinnati

The Courage also had some time to do homework and bond with each other.  The trip also included 2 competitive games of laser tag against Terry and 2 of the dads...as well as a DDR dance off.
