Synergy and Courage 94 advance in Spring State Cup play

FC Virginia's two entrants in the Spring 2008 age groups of the VYSA State Cup both advanced on Saturday, and will compete in the round of 16 next weekend. The Synergy defeated PWSI Courage by a score of 2-0, while the Courage made a 3rd minute goal stand for the 1-0 upset of CYA Phoenix. The Synergy will now face Chantilly Burn, a fellow WAGS Division 1 team, and defending State Cup champions. The match is also intriguing in that the Synergy are the only FC Virginia team not also affiliated with Chantilly Soccer Club. The Courage will face the Herndon Fusion, who had an upset of their own Saturday downing the seeded Richmond Strikers team in PKs.
