Sep 30, 2008
Former FC Virginia star Meghan Lenczyk is having quite a year for the Virginia Cavaliers. The sophomore forward from McLean, Va. received a pair of honors on Tuesday as she was named the ACC Player of the Week and the Soccer America National Player of the Week.
Lenczyk led the Cavaliers to a pair of road victories last week to open ACC play, downing No. 8 Florida State 1-0 and Miami 2-0. In both games, Lenczyk scored the game-winning goal and leads the team with eight goals and four game-winning goals this season.
The ACC Player of the Week honor is the first of Lenczyk’s career and is the first for a Cavalier this season. She also becomes just the second Cavalier to ever be named Soccer America National Player of the Week, joining Shannon Foley who earned the award last season.
