Synergy Emerges Victorious in Memorial Day Play

The U14 Synergy were in action at the Columbia Memorial Day Tournament, and took the Elite Division championship by defeating the Freestate Fury 1-0 in the finals.  The winning goal was scored by Imani Ervins with the assist by Ashley Carmean and Bridget Bergquist. The team went 1-0-2 in group play and allowed only 1 goal the entire weekend.  

The tournament brought tough competition to the Synergy but the defense held strong allowing just the one goal in four matches.  Synergy goalie, Hailey Machen, was "on" the entire weekend with numerous saves to her credit.  The Synergy midfielders worked hard throughout the weekend narrowing offensive advances by tough Region 1 teams who wanted to secure the title of Champion for themselves.  In the end it was the Synergy offense that brought the trophy home with a well executed finish on goal in the final match.  Credit is due to coaches Steve Smith and Keith Cox who guided this team to victory over what was a very long, but beautiful, Memorial Day weekend.
