Cardinals in State Finals Sunday

The Cardinals will be playing the SYC Galaxy on Sunday, June 8 at 12pm at Occoquan #1. The team has all ready qualified for regionals in Maine at the end of the month.

FC Virginia forms U19 team

What happens to local club players after they go off to college? Well, most come home for the summer looking to play some great soccer and stay in shape for their sophomore return.

FC Virginia has formed just such a team, made up of 22 college players, for the summer 2008 State Cup and tournament season. Ten players on the impressive squad are returning FC Virginia players, with 12 others having played for other clubs before leaving for college last year.

First up is this weekend’s Memorial Day tournament in Columbia Maryland. Then VYSA State Cup play begins; the Cardinals have all ready qualified for the Region 1 Championships in Maine. Winners there advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships.
