About u15 Courage 94 Team

Weather Update: Wed. July 1st, 5:30 PM

Rain forecast for tonight, but we'll be there. We'll play in light rain as long as the field is OK, but will head across the street to 5 guys if lightning or heavy rain arrives.

Tryouts

The FC Virginia rising U-15 girls are looking for extremely dedicated players in any position, including goalkeeper. We are a strong team, with dedicated and talented players, all with a goal to earn the opportunity to play soccer in college.

Coached by Chris Hummer, the Assistant Director of Coaching for FC Virginia, members of this team will enjoy the benefits of belonging to an elite club like FC Virginia, including always being one "call-up" away from attending an ECNL event with the Herndon Hotspur or even an older ECNL team (or younger if you're playing up already).

FCV players receive the highest quality training within a professional coaching staff and vigorous focus on a long-term player development plan, and the "college track". We teach the sophisticated game of soccer that will be required in order to succeed in later years, more so than simply coaching each week to try and win the next game.

Courage Tryout/mini-Camp Schedule:
Wednesday, July 1 - 6:30-8:00 PM - Fred Crabtree Park
Mon - Thurs - July 6-9 10:30 AM - 12 Noon - Poplar Tree Park #2

Please email to Coach Chris (chris.hummer@hummersport.com) letting him know you'll be attending, and to receive our tryout application form via email. You can call Coach Chris with questions anytime at 703-801-6020.

Courage Win PWSI Ice Breaker

Congratulations to all for a great weekend and another tournament victory. Even with rain-shortened group games, the Courage scored more goals than we have in a tournament since the summer of 2008, and against good competition from fellow WAGS teams. From scoring in the opening minute of game one, to the impressive build-up goals that included over a dozen consecutive passes and nearly every player touching the ball during the possession, this was the kind of team-soccer performance we've been working so hard to achieve, and with continued focus will lead us to even more impressive successes in the coming months and years. Enjoy the win, then put it on a shelf and focus on our next goals - winning WAGS and State Cup Final Four, one game at a time!

Game 1 (20-minute halves): FCV 6 - 2 Potomac
Game 2 (25-minute halves): FCV 4 - 0 CSA
Game 3 (20-minute halves): FCV 0 - 0 McLean
Game 4 (full-length final): FCV 2 - 0 BRYC Eclipse

Article in Potomac Soccer Wire by Coach Chris

Our recent trip to Virginia Beach for the Atlantic Cup inspired Coach Chris' latest article for Potomac Soccer Wire. It explores the popular issues of measuring player development against the need to win games at the youth, and even college level by contrasting the Courage's weekend against that of the NCAA and U-20 World Cup Final on Sunday. The article has received national recognition by way of reprint requests, inclusion in popular soccer blogs, and many private emails of praise from coaches all over the country. Enjoy

"Expectations for women's soccer development must be higher"

2009 Spring Tournament Schedules

Our tournament schedule for the first half of 2009 has been posted on the team calendar - all pending acceptance of course.

Tryouts

The Courage have one open roster position for the Spring 09 season. We are looking for a technically exceptional attacking field player who excels in a possession style of soccer and wants to learn how to translate that style into winning. We also have a need for a back-up goalkeeper with the ability to play the field. We invite all interested players to attend our training sessions anytime this winter. Please contact coach Chris if you are interested or with questions.

About the FC Virginia Courage

We are an elite u14 girls travel team playing in Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), Virginia State Cup, and top tournaments around the mid-Atlantic. Our players come from all over Loudoun and Fairfax County, VA.

We are dedicated to developing a superior technical foundation for our players that will provide them with not only the technical and tactical skills needed, but also the confidence and passion for the game that will help them achieve ANYTHING they decide to set as a goal in the future (soccer or non-soccer). Soccer-wise it is this team's goal for every player to have the opportunity to play in college at the highest level they desire - when the time comes. How many games we win or lose between now and then is far less important than this overriding purpose. With this goal however, comes the necessity to play at the highest level we can reach, both to improve, as well as to be seen in later years by college coaches.

Our Membership in FC Virginia provides our players with amazing opportunities to learn from more just one dedicated coach. FCV Director of Coaching, Terry Foley, has won 25 Virginia State Cup championships in 17 years, and regularly sends every single player from the oldest FCV teams to college - most with scholarships.

Our coaching staff are hired professionals, under the direction of the club, not parents of players. Our families are first class, and very supportive of the team's long term development plan. Each player is treated with respect and honesty with a singular focus on fostering a love of the game and improving in every way.

If you would like to be a part of our team, or any FC Virginia team, please contact us by email anytime.
