Cardinals centerback Elizabeth Casey, Chantilly HS, has verbally committed to George Washington University!

Alana Mackey selected to attend 2010 id2 National Training Camp

Cardinals center back Alana Mackey has been selected to attend the 2010 id2 National Training Camp, Feb. 26-March 1 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. 

The id2 program, established in 2004, provides an opportunity for the country’s top youth talent to be identified and developed by U.S. Soccer National Team Staff for possible inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. The id2 program is unique from any other program in that it is an unrestricted opportunity to assemble the top boys’ and girls’ talent regardless of affiliation. 

Cardinals win 3rd place at Disney

The Cardinals rebounded from an opening day loss to claim 3rd place at Disney. The team went 2-1 in ECNL play. The Cardinals lost 2-0 to CT finalist, CFC then defeated the GA finalist Atlanta Fire 3-1. The Cardinals wrapped up group play against the formidable TX-S champs/Region 3 semi-finalist TX Challenge with a 2-0 win. The Cardinals tied for 1st in their group with 3 teams and ended up 2nd after tiebreakers. In the 3rd place game, the Cardinals defeated the TN champs, Brentwood, 1-0 in overtime. 
The Cardinals will be back in action on March 12-14 when they take on D'Feeters, Lonestar, and Soccerplus in Vegas.

Cardinals claim 1st place at Raleigh

The Cardinals went undefeated and won their flight at Raleigh on Nov. 20-22. The Cardinals defeated Ohio Premier 2-0, tied Chicago Sockers 0-0, and defeated FC Bucks 2-0.

Cardinals go undefeated at WAGS College Showcase

The Cardinals went 2-0-1 at the WAGS College Showcase. The Cardinals tied PA-E finalist FC Revolution 3-3, beat the NJ state champs Wall 1-0, and beat NY-E finalist Manhattan Pride 3-0.

Cardinals compete at PDA

The Cardinals played 3 ECNL games at the PDA Memorial Day tournament going 1-1-1. The Cardinals tied the AZ finalists 0-0, beat Freestate 4-0, and lost 2-1 to the IN champs in stoppage time. The following coaches had the opportunity to see the team play.

Cardinals win Jefferson Cup

The Cardinals wrapped up a grueling 10 day run with a victory at the Jefferson Cup. The Cardinals defeated the Smithtown Kickers 1-0 in the finals with a goal by Imani Ervins. In match play, the Cardinals defeated FC Revolution 2-1 with goals from Bridget Bergquist and Imani Ervins. They defeated the Pittsgrove Pride 1-0 with a goal by Bridget Bergquist and tied the East Meadow Express 2-2 with goals from Lindsey Heigh and Elizabeth Casey. Alex Gogolin had 4 assists during the weekend.

Cardinals gain valuable experience at Vegas

The Cardinals returned from the Las Vegas College Showcase with an impressive record of 2-1-1. The Cardinals beat Irvine, CA  2-0 and the WI state champs FC Milwaukee 3-0. They tied the CA-South state champs, Real So Cal 1-1 and lost to the San Diego Surf 1-0. Imani Ervins lead the team with 3 goals. The Cardinals return to action this weekend at the Jefferson Cup.

Cardinals open up Region 1 play

The Cardinals traveled to Frostburg State University on Saturday, March 7 to play the Western Pennsylvania state champs from Beadling. Imani Ervins and Bridget Bergquist scored as the Cardinals defeated Beadling 2-1.

CARDINALS TO TAKE PART IN ECNL

The FCV Cardinals will play in the prestigious Elite Clubs National League in the Fall of 2009. The Cardinals are  the only U15G team in Northern Virginia to make the league. 
The Elite National League is a National League consisting of 32 teams in each age group. The best clubs in the country are represented. Cardinals coaches, Steve Smith and Keith Cox, expect the competition to be great and see this as a fantastic opportunity for their team.  In this league, the Cardinals will be matched against the best teams in the nation.  Try-outs for the Elite Clubs National League roster will begin in May. FCV Cardinals play under the banner of Fairfax Police Youth Club.   The Cardinals are coached by FCV coach Steve Smith.  The team is composed of players from Fairfax, Loudoun, Stafford, and Prince William counties.  The Cardinals will play in Region I Premier League in the Spring 2009 season. 

COACHING STAFF

  • The Cardinals are  coached by Steve Smith, A license. In 2007, coach Smith took his U19G Cardinals team to the National Finals in Dallas, Texas.  The team fell to the Carmel Cyclones 2-0, but came away with the title of National Finalist.  The entire Cardinal team went on to be Collegiate soccer players.  The FCV Cardinals players would like to recognize this accomplishment by supplying links to the ladies college websites for your convenience.
